Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island ([email protected]) kick-started its third year of operations with another successful delivery of its hit season opener, Reed Gift Fairs Sydney held February 20-24.
The Centre’s biggest trade show, and one of the largest in Australia, Reed Gift Fairs Sydney, February has been the propelling force of [email protected]’s event line-up since 2014, setting the upbeat pace for the year ahead with its achievements.
The show is the definitive destination for the homewares and gift industry, boasting a loyal attendee and exhibitor base. This year the Fair attracted over 450 exhibitors – including at least 115 new exhibiting companies – and more than 16,500 visitors.
Reed Gift Fairs Sydney February packed every hall of [email protected] with seven show sectors providing seamless cross-buying opportunities. Exhibitors and visitors were perfectly positioned to connect with what’s new, design-forward, and artisanal across the home, lifestyle and gift spectrum.
“It was a fantastic show, we were extremely busy every day,” said Stephen Steenson, Group Director of Operations for Reed Exhibitions Australia (RXA). “Each year we refresh and update the Fair to reflect the needs of both exhibitors and visitors and make the most of their show experience. It’s been a great collaborative effort with the [email protected] team to continually deliver on this commitment.”
In addition to the fresh new look and re-brand, the Reed Gift Fairs team this year introduced three publications, an event planner for visitors for shortlisting exhibitors and sessions as well as scheduling appointments in advance, and the popular Style Studio, a program of hands-on workshops on merchandising/styling, floral design, gift wrapping, social media and photography.
Initiatives to enhance the show experience were also put to work by enterprising exhibitors. “We used fragrance to attract people, styled the stand like a shop, provided restful seating while listening to chill-out music,” said Michelle Lawson, Director of DARLIN. “The combination worked because by Day 2 we exceeded last year’s total sales – we’re stoked!”
Providing a networking hub and perfect opportunity for refreshment in the midst of a busy day at the show, the Café introduced new and more varied menu offerings that were well received – over 48,000 food and beverage items were sold during the event.
Communications focused on encouraging use of public transport to get to the show proved effective with 10,974 round trips taken on the free ferry shuttle and 14,256 round trips made on the free bus service.
