An award winning event manager will feature as guest speaker in the Executive Certificate in Event Management, a short course due to run at Citigate in Perth from 20-23 September.
Shani Wood, former Event Manager of the Year (Australian Event Awards, 2009), will speak about her 16 years’ experience producing, directing and managing some of the world’s most spectacular events, including several Red Bull Air Races.
Taught by the internationally renowned Australian Centre for Event Management (ACEM), based at the University of Technology in Sydney (UTS), the Executive Certificate is regarded as the most prestigious short-course in event management amongst prospective employers and industry leaders in government, corporate and not-for-profit organisations.
Aimed at graduates, young professionals trying to break into the West Australian events industry, and experienced event managers wanting to update their skill sets, the course will allow students to learn about how events of all scales are run and managed, from the world’s major music festivals to free community fairs. Students will explore the delivery of a range of events, from corporate functions to large sporting events.
ACEM has chosen Perth as the location for this course because of the city’s growing reputation in staging world-class events, with sailing and athletics masters World Championships planned for the future.
“The event industry in Western Australia is renowned for creating and delivering some of the world’s most significant events. This rapidly growing industry increasingly demands professional staff with recognised skills and qualifications, whom also have a knowledge of creative, operational, production, legal and safety issues,” said Robert Harris, ACEM Director.
“The Executive Certificate offers students and event professionals a firm basis in theory and case studies, matched with practical insights from successful industry professionals. All our students graduate with globally recognised credentials and have an invaluable networking experience with the leaders of the industry, their fellow students and future colleagues.”
“While the Executive Certificate does provide an introduction to the industry for graduates or young professionals, advanced event managers will also benefit from training with ACEM to keep abreast of industry trends and innovations.”
Places are limited, and enrolments are filling fast – students have less than two weeks to secure their place on the course.
