Sydney Showground was a big winner at the Australian Event Awards, triumphing over considerable competition to take out one of the night’s most sought after titles – Best Venue.
With all six states represented, the 2011 Australian Event Awards is the national awards program which rewards innovation and celebrates outstanding achievements across Australia’s thriving events industry, from major sporting tournaments and arts festivals, to charity events and business conferences.
The Best Venue award recognises the outstanding role Sydney Showground plays in facilitating more than 400 exhibitions, conferences, festivals, launches and events each year.
RAS Chief Executive Peter King said the Sydney Showground team is thrilled to have been recognised for their hard work and dedication in delivering events for our clients.
“Sydney Showground is a diverse event and event management facility offering exceptional choice and flexibility. Sydney Showground’s reputation has been built by a world class team who have delivered some of Australia’s most iconic and creative events,” said Mr King.
When it comes to staging world class events Sydney Showground has it all. The venue’s success is based on the principles of Great Freedom, A Central Location, Inspired Catering and most importantly, Unique Partnerships.
“Our team demonstrates real passion for the events industry and is committed to delivering outstanding results for our clients. Our people are meticulous in their approach and are extremely focused on delivering the best outcomes for our customers and their visitors,” said Mr King.
Over the past eleven years, Sydney Showground’s 125 staff members have staged in excess of 4,500 events which have played host to a staggering 11 million patrons. This has enabled the team to develop the right skills and knowledge to provide clients with event management expertise that is second to none.
The diverse and successful events hosted by Sydney Showground include the Sydney Royal Easter Show – the largest event in the Southern Hemisphere, the Sydney Telstra 500 V8 supercars, Big Day Out, Better Homes and Gardens LIVE and most recently AIMEX – one of the world’s top mining exhibitions and the largest ever trade show to be held in Australia.
“Sydney Showground just keeps getting better. The Showground will soon be home to a state-of-the-art boutique multi-purpose Stadium, which will be the home game match venue for the AFL’s newest team – the Giants. The stadium will also host music festivals, concerts, along with other sporting codes,” said Mr King.
“The upgraded Stadium facilities at Sydney Showground will help Sydney attract and retain major events and provide wide ranging benefits to the people of NSW.”
