Giving a presentation to the Business Events Sydney Ambassadors dinner recently futurist Morris Miselowski was showing off his new iPad and predicted that in the not too distant future the cost of similar devices would be so low that they will be included in conference satchels.
So just ponder the possibilities of what you could do with a wi-fi enabled iPad type device distributed to all the delegates.
First up – no paper conference handbook.
The program will be pre-loaded and updates provided on the fly.
Some sort of wi-fi scanning device could monitor which sessions the delegate attends.
All the conference papers and abstracts could be preloaded along with speaker profiles. When, invariably, speakers turn up 15 mins before going on and ask for their presentation to be loaded a notice could just be sent out to those interested to download it.
Feedback, questions and voting during sessions could be done via the device.
It could also include a complete delegate list (with photos) and with the wi-fi communication you could arrange meetings with other delegates and exhibitors.
Booking your table at the conference dinner could also be done via the device – the tables could have names alongside the seats and you could choose who you want to sit with
Of course the challenge would be to block 3G access so iGen delegates are not doodling on Facepage during sessions.
