Following the addition of 43 Mirvac hotels to its network, the PR team at Accor has announced a new member, with Angela O’Connor – formerly Assistant Communications Manager at Mirvac – taking on the role of PR and Communications Executive, Accor Asia Pacific.
In addition to overseeing PR for the former Mirvac hotels as they integrate into the Accor network, Angela will manage PR for Accor’s Queensland hotels (following the temporary departure of Rebecca Freestun, who is on maternity leave).
After completing a degree in journalism and international studies at UTS, Angela worked at Qantas, The Australian Way magazine for almost five years, first writing the hotel news pages before being promoted to Online Editor. After this Angela decided to pursue a career in hotel and tourism PR, taking the role of Assistant Communications Manager at Mirvac Hotels & Resorts, which included overseeing PR for more than 40 hotels as well as managing the group’s social media platform.
“I am really excited to be part of such a great Communications team at Accor and am very much looking forward to giving as much exposure as possible to the new portfolio of Accor hotels as well as the group’s Queensland network,” Angela said.
Angela joins Peter Hook, Gaynor Reid and Ginni Ryan in Accor’s Sydney head office. Gaynor will look after Sofitel Luxury Hotels press relations for the Pacific region while Rebecca is on maternity leave.
