Sixteen-strong contingent puts Australia on show at South East Asia Showcase
Australia continues to cement its reputation as the incentive destination of choice for South East Asia business events’ groups, with a growing number of bookings from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
The number of total business arrivals from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, which have increased consistently over the last five years, supports this trend and all three markets rank within the top 10 destinations by visitors to Australia.
The capacity for Australia’s business events industry to deliver world-class programs for incentive groups of any size was underlined by a number of recent business event wins from South East Asia, including the marine and aquatic, insurance, engineering and manufacturing industries.
This year, Australia will play host to some of the largest incentive events from industries including electronics, education, accounting, insurance, engineering and a number of significant group incentive bookings are already confirmed for 2015.
According to recent research commissioned by Tourism Australia, Australia’s proximity and affordability are key drivers for business events decision makers in South East Asia, whilst Australia also performed strongly on factors such as safety and security, business event facilities, accommodation and local cuisine.
Sixteen Australian business events industry partners will join the showcase to be held in Singapore (26-27 May), Kuala Lumpur (28-29 May) and Jakarta (29-30 May). The businesses span six destinations across Australia, including Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, the Northern Territory, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast to highlight the impressive range of products, services and experiences available in Australia.
Tourism Australia’s General Manager of Business Events, Penny Lion said the South East Asia Showcase (26-30 May 2014) is just one example of Tourism Australia’s commitment to business events as it continues to reinforce Australia as a top choice corporate meeting and incentive destination for Singaporean, Malaysian and Indonesian decision makers.
“We want to continue to build on the growth that we are seeing from South East Asia. This week’s showcase allows us to demonstrate Australia’s ongoing investment in its business events and incentive offerings,” said Penny Lion.
“Our aim is to bring the very best of Australia’s business events product to the key influencers and decision makers in the region. We want to really bring to life what Australia has to offer and demonstrate that we have the ability to tailor any offering or experience for delegates from South East Asia,” Ms Lion said.
