Both are trade only events and will be held concurrently from the 15th to 18th February
The Home and Giving Fair is organised by the Australian Gift & Homewares Association and will be held at Sydney Showground while the Reed Gift Fair will be the first expo to be held at the temporary Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island.
Access to each venue couldn’t be more different. It will be very interesting to observe how the buyers cope.
Sydney Olympic Park railway station is adjacent to the exhibition halls at Sydney Showground and there is ample parking available in the SOP precinct. Olympic Park is also close to the geographic centre of Sydney.
On the other hand the Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island is close to the city, however it has no onsite parking for visitors. To compensate the Centre is providing free ferry services from Circular Quay (every 45 mins) and from Darling Harbour (every 15 mins). The Darling Harbour ferry terminal will be in front of the Harbourside shopping centre, adjacent to the old SCEC which is now a building site. With the closure of the SCEC car-park parking in this area would now be about half what it was. So good luck with that.
In addition to the ferry service there will also be complimentary bus services from Central Station and from the old SCEC taxi rank.
Now just imagine how much easier it would have been if the NSW Government had listened to those advocating the construction of an extension of the light rail across the old Glebe Island bridge to service this precinct and the new Cruise terminal.
