Business Events Sydney’s (BESydney) Sales Research Executive Christina Barton has been selected as one of the 20 future leaders to attend the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) Forum for Young Professionals at the Exhibition for Incentive Business Travel and Meetings (EIBTM) in Barcelona in November.
The ICCA Forum for Young Professionals (FYP) gathers the next generation of business event leaders to learn from leading industry mentors, as well as collaborate and debate issues affecting their regions. This year the forum is specifically themed around the topic of ‘Meetings Industry Change Agents’ and focuses on young professionals better understanding and responding to the rapidly changing industry landscape.
Lyn Lewis-Smith, CEO of BESydney, says “We are over the moon that Christina’s will be participating in this year’s FYP. A relatively new recruit, Christina joined the team in August 2011 and has been a proactive member of our Sales Research Team. Her focus on researching events in Japan and Istanbul, as well as identifying links with local universities, has led to a number of bid leads from diverse fields being handed over for our client engagement team to pursue.
“The FYP is an incredible opportunity for young professionals to broaden their perspective, innovate and practice what we preach – the value of face-to-face connections and collaboration. The whole BESydney team congratulates Christina on her success in what was a highly competitive selection process!”
Christina adds, “I am particularly interested in discussing emerging events and markets with the other ‘young professionals’ in Barcelona. Additionally, it will be interesting to hear their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities offered by Australia’s unique event proposition, including the reality that we are a long-haul destination for a number of markets.”
The FYP takes the form of a four-day program from 24 – 27 November in Barcelona. Christina will also stay on after the FYP and join BESydney’s Europe-based team on the Sydney stand at EIBTM.
