At this week’s Restaurant & Catering Australia Awards held in Sydney, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) was named Australia’s Best Caterer, taking home the top catering award of the evening, the much coveted Caterer of the Year.
In an undeniable and impressive display of consistency, the Centre also won the award for Best Function/Convention Centre Caterer in Australia for the third time in the last five years.
This remarkable achievement of winning back to back national awards adds to an already stellar reputation and consolidates the Centre’s international standing among the leading convention centres of the world.
Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, operated by leading international venue management group, AEG Ogden, has earned world wide praise for its delivery of innovative, contemporary cuisine and restaurant style presentation and service.
These latest wins bring the Centre’s total awards tally to 117 of which 56 are for catering.
The Centre’s commitment to its Food & Beverage product is evident across its structure and policies and from its very talented team of chefs and service staff, under the experienced and enthusiastic leadership of Food & Beverage Director, Kevin Gulliver and Executive Chef, Martin Latter.
Convention Centre General Manager, Bob O’Keeffe believes this national recognition is at the very heart of the Centre’s operational reputation and Brisbane’s ongoing appeal as a successful business destination.
“I believe our entire food philosophy, culture and practices of sourcing only the very best of our local seasonal produce when we can, has played a part in our success and our commitment to sustainability remains paramount.”
Mr O’Keeffe said what remains important to all who work in Food & Beverage is the wonderfully encouraging feedback and many compliments the Centre receives about its catering from clients both in Australia and from around the world.
It was particularly pleasing, he said, to receive these awards prior to the new BCEC on Grey Street expansion opening early in the New Year. “We will be adding to the catering menu of events and offerings in Grey Street and it is reassuring to know that we are in a strong position going forward with some very exciting new plans.”
Mr O’Keeffe said he wanted to congratulate the many other award winners and finalists, “Competition was strong and we were in extremely good company”.
