Brisbane Global Cafe – an international centre of thought leadership ahead of the G20 Leaders Summit in Brisbane in November 2014. The Brisbane Global Cafe takes the form of a virtual discussion, with a series of live events with keynote speakers planned this year to broaden the audience.
The Brisbane Global Cafe culminates in a two-day gathering linking thought leaders with an international media audience in Brisbane in the days before the G20 Leaders Summit.
The Brisbane Global Cafe will concentrate on four themes:
- Tourism’s new frontiers: What lies ahead for the tourism industry as emerging markets make their presences felt? How must the industry adapt and proactively engage to ensure sustainable growth?
- Improving human life: How is medical science working to improve and extend human life? What breakthroughs are in the planning?
- Powering future economies – people, technology, resource: How is digital innovation affecting our lives and who is best adapting and emerging successfully?
- Cities of the future: What will our cities of the future look like and how can they best adapt to growing populations and the changing desires of their residents?
These themes will be debated through opinion pieces written by experts, news stories written by Brisbane Global Cafe reporters and content gathered and curated from online. These pieces will all be featured on this website.
The Brisbane Global Cafe welcomes contributions, suggestions and feedback.
The Brisbane Global Cafe is overseen by Brisbane Marketing – Brisbane’s economic development board.
Brisbane Marketing is wholly owned by the Brisbane City Council – Australia’s largest local government with an annual budget of almost $3 billion.
