Time-poor event planners can access all the advice and solutions they need to host a successful conference at Brisbane Pop-Up 2013 in City Hall today (Thursday 22 August).
Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said the two-hour event, run by the Brisbane Marketing Convention Bureau, would showcase the city’s latest business event products to more than 300 guests.
“Brisbane Pop-Up 2013 is one of the city’s premier business event networking opportunities,” he said.
“The idea behind Pop-Up is to provide an instant platform for more than 50 exhibitors to offer all their event planning solutions to meetings and event organisers.
“It’s a valuable opportunity for event organisers to liaise with the decision makers who bring national and international conferences to Brisbane.”
Cr Quirk acknowledged the role Brisbane Marketing played in helping to promote Brisbane as a meetings destination.
“Brisbane Marketing’s strategic focus of attracting conferences that align with Brisbane’s key sectors has driven much of our recent conventions success,” he said.
“In July alone, Brisbane won the right to host seven conferences which will attract 5600 delegates and inject more than $16 million into the city’s economy.
”Conferences attract thousands of high-spending national and international delegates to Brisbane annually, generating in excess of $250 million a year for the city.
“Over the longer term, they also help to attract talent and investment to Brisbane, driving the city’s ongoing economic growth and development.
“Next year the G20 World Leaders Summit will hit Brisbane, strengthening our reputation as a leading destination for international meetings.”
Brisbane Marketing Convention Bureau Director Annabel Sullivan said Brisbane Pop-Up 2013 would be attended by meeting planners and event organisers from educational institutions, professional services firms and national corporates.
“This is a great chance for them to get the latest news, product updates and information that will help them to successfully plan their next event,” Ms Sullivan said.
