Brisbane based creative agency, j2 creative industries, has been recognised as a leader in the events industry, taking out the Cause Related Event of the Year at the Meetings & Events Australia National Industry Awards earlier this month.
j2’s win has further bolstered Queensland’s reputation for excellence in events with the company trumping event producers from across Australia, all vying to be recognised as the best in the business.
Winning the award for their collaborative partnership with SU QLD to produce the SU QLD Frontline Chaplaincy Appeal Dinner, the j2 team have now cemented their reputation for producing quality cause related and community events.
The company’s Managing and Creative Director, Joanna Jordan, advised that being recognised for their work with not for profit and community organisations had been particularly rewarding.
She explained, “We take a different approach to the more mainstream event production companies in that we specialise largely in cause related and community events.”
Joanna explains that approximately 70% of j2’s current clients fall into the community category specifically into festivals, public celebrations and cause related genres.
“We have made a conscious business decision to focus on event genres and projects that allow us to establish community related partnerships and to help organisations achieve their cultural, social and fundraising goals.”
“I’ve had a lot of people from within our industry comment that we are crazy for not pursuing the more profitable incentives and meetings sector but for us the notions of event excellence, giving back to the community and supporting professional development is just as important as our bottom line”, she explains.
Indeed, this approach appears to have been quite savvy with the company now boasting successful community partnerships with some of the state’s largest events and celebrations including the SU QLD Frontline Chaplaincy Appeal Dinner, MS QLD’s Brissie to the Bay Bike Ride, Gladstone Ports Corporation’s Botanic to Bridge & Healthy Living Expo, the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers and South Bank Corporation’s 20th Anniversary World Expo 88 Celebrations Charity Dinner (benefiting the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation).
The MEA National win will be the latest in a string of industry accolades for the j2 team who have also previously won the 2007 Telstra Micro Business of the Year Award (QLD) and the 2008 BT Publishing Award for Charity Event of the Year (National).
