Business Events Sydney (BESydney) continues to position Sydney as a leading global business events destination, hosting its annual Vivid Sydney Showcase for more than 350 of the city’s leading event and tourism industry professionals tonight.
Held at Luna Park, BESydney’s Vivid Sydney Showcase will highlight the international festival of light, music and ideas and remind the city’s industry professionals why Sydney is ranked the #10 global business events destination.
Jon Hutchison, BESydney Chief Executive Officer, said, “Successful business events have the right balance of professional, academic and social content. Our showcase reinforces to event planners in New South Wales that the State has a master event calendar. Packaging our business events around these cultural and social activities can help to attract delegates.”
“Vivid Sydney provides a platform for creative industry events, and at the same time provides entertainment for the public through a vibrant program of light, music and ideas. The festival brings visitors to Sydney from around Australia and the world. Events such as this show how a collaborative approach provides great opportunities for the city.
“BESydney supported Sydney’s successful bid to host the 2013 International Symposium of Electronic Arts, and the organising committee is now working to link the event with Vivid Sydney. This will be another business event to add to the raft of activity during the festival.”
Geoff Parmenter, CEO of Events NSW, said partnering with creative industries conferences and forums was a natural evolution for Vivid Sydney.
“Vivid is a forum for creative collaboration and recognises Sydney as a city where technology, commerce and art intersects.
“Increasingly we’re finding a large number of creative industry business events are being staged during the festival – a natural fit in terms of creativity, alignment of content and commercial opportunity,” he said.
Creative business events on during the festival include AMPlify, CeBIT Australia, Encore Live, Mumbrella360, SPARC International Lighting Event, and X Media Lab.
The What is the Bureau? seminar will precede BESydney’s Vivid Showcase at Luna Park. What is the Bureau? is a collaborative event designed to increase people’s understanding of the services available through visitor and convention bureaux.
“We decided to co-host What is the Bureau with the Association of Australian Convention Bureaux during Vivid Sydney.
“This gives people the opportunity to learn more about how BESydney can help. Our Vivid Showcase then provides an invaluable opportunity to connect with industry, colleagues and clients.”
BESydney promotes Sydney internationally as a business events destination, identifies new event opportunities and competes to bring these events to Australia’s leading global city.
Business events secured by BESydney this financial year will generate more than $200 million in economic benefit for New South Wales.
Vivid Sydney is one of five signature events on the NSW Events Calendar developed by Events NSW on behalf of the NSW Government.
