The visually stunning book AirVolution was launched today as a communal thank you to the Canberra Airport for everything it has done for the city.
The book was produced by Canberra Convention Bureau with the support of CRE8IVE to celebrate the Airport’s magnificent achievement in transport, design, and architecture through the opening of the new international terminal.
Within AirVolution’s glossy pages lays a compilation of spectacular images reflecting the richness and diversity of the nation’s capital and thankful notes from esteemed members of the Canberra community.
Chief Minister Katy Gallagher, local politicians and CEO of Canberra Convention Bureau Robyn Hendry contributed to telling the story of the significant impact Canberra Airport has had on Canberra’s development.
“Canberra Airport has well and truly surpassed the traditional definition of an airport,” said Robyn Hendry, CEO of Canberra Convention Bureau.
“It is an integral part of Canberra’s character, a gateway to our region and will continue to play a significant role in growing and globalising our city.
“I congratulate all involved in this exceptional project- the commitment to quality is evident in every aspect of the airport’s award-winning design.”
The new international terminal incorporates environmental sustainability, stunning sculptures, elegant architecture and clever use of natural light to create an inspiring entry and departure point for Canberra, while keeping the visitor experience at its core.
Diplomat Hotel General Manager, Rowland Fischer says the Canberra Airport has featured in some of the most momentous and emotional times in mine and countless other lives.
“My first memory of the Canberra Airport was about 30 years ago when I escorted my mother to pick up my father after a long business trip. 20 years later, at the same albeit differently branded terminal, I bid my family farewell as I chased my dreams of experiencing a year abroad,” Mr Fischer said.
The Canberra Airport is thrilled to have played such an important part in the development of Canberra, and is honoured to have received AirVolution on Thursday.
The event featured a formal presentation of the book to Mr Terry Snow founder of Capital Airport Group and son Mr Stephen Byron, as well as the official acknowledgment of the opening of the Canberra Airport International terminal.
