Business Events Sydney (BESydney) CEO, Lyn Lewis Smith, welcomed her appointment to the University of Technology (UTS) Business School advisory board, announced this week..
“It is an honour to be invited to sit on the UTS board. These are exciting times for the UTS Business School, which is about to welcome an impressive new Frank Gehry-designed building – the first in Australia.
“I look forward to working in partnership with the other esteemed members and sharing my experiences in the business events sector to further the university’s objectives,” said Ms Lewis-Smith.
BESydney has worked with UTS to complete three phases of industry-leading research into the value of business events to host cities. The latest study, which was released in May this year and titled Estimating inscope expenditure attributed to business events in New South Wales, sought to accurately measure the true value of ‘new money’ to host destinations.
BESydney CEO Lyn Lewis Smith said credibility, accountability and consistency were three things that any leading industry should strive for in the data it gathered.
“Above all, we must not be afraid to ask questions, to challenge the way things ‘have always been done’, and to strive for continual improvement.”
