On Friday the 21st of October at the Gaelic Hotel in Surry Hills, Chords for Causes launched their first charity event ‘Breast Cancer Unplugged’. Chords for Causes is the newly created Not-For-Profit division of Sydney event company Vivace Events.
Vivace Events provided their event services pro bono in addition to coordinating all artists, suppliers and sponsors pro bono services to ensure that 100% of the funds raised will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). Even the bar staff donated their tips on the night!
The music event featured a spectacular set design and intimate, unplugged performances by a stand-out line up including Amy Meredith, The Art, Sarah Mcleod’s new band Screaming Bikini, Luchi, Isac Cole and event host Simon Day closed the evening by performing Ratcat hits to the crowd’s delight.
In addition to ticket sales, the upbeat event raised extra donations through raffles with fantastic prizes including concert tickets (Dolly Parton tickets were the crowd favourite), magazine subscriptions, music packs and a massive grand prize of a deluxe photo shoot.
This event raised approximately $6,000 and counting for the NBCF’s excellent research which is improving survival rates and quality of life for the 1 in 9 Australian women diagnosed with breast cancer.
30-year-old event producer and breast cancer survivor, Yvette Luciano, is thrilled with the result and overwhelmed with the support from the music community. “I am overflowing with gratitude for all the volunteers, artists and sponsors who supported this event and ensured it was a great success. I’m so proud of us for raising close to $6,000 in one night! It’s exciting to think what we will achieve next year with more lead time.”
Following the huge success of this debut event, Chords for Causes plans to stage more upbeat events with great music in the future for different causes, with ‘Breast Cancer Unplugged’ planned to be an annual event every October.
Chords for Causes and Vivace Events would especially like to thank:
