Darwin Convention Centre won the Business Event Venue category of the 2016 Brolga Tourism Awards, the highest accolade in the Northern Territory tourism industry.
The awards ceremony took place on Saturday November 12 at the Darwin Convention Centre, where the industry’s leading businesses and individuals were competing for recognition across 27 categories.
The Business Event Venue category was judged on business strategies and outcomes, contribution to the tourism industry, customer service standards, sustainability and innovation.
“Our passion is always to showcase the Darwin Convention Centre as a modern, world-class venue with outstanding dining experiences and exceptional service” says General Manager Janet Hamilton, who accepted the award on behalf of her team.
“I want to particularly thank the talented and enthusiastic team at DCC for their unflagging commitment to excellence and Executive Chef Toby Beaton and his team for launching a new and innovative menu this year, which we showcased at the Brolga Awards” she says.
Beyond boosting business tourism, the Darwin Convention Centre is also a catalyst for innovation and economic growth in Australia’s Northern Territory. The Centre draws thought leaders, industry captains, scientists and academics from all over the world to come and exchange ideas in Australia’s strategically located northern most capital city.
Darwin Convention Centre is now a finalist in the 2017 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards – the industry’s most prestigious event of the year, which will also be hosted by the Darwin Convention Centre.
“The Australian Tourism Awards have been running for more than 30 years and recognise excellence across the tourism industry and we are pleased to visit Darwin for the very first time for this event,” Australian Tourism Awards Chairman, Daniel Gschwind, said.
The Qantas Australian Tourism Awards will be held at the Darwin Convention Centre on Friday 24 February 2017.
