The tourism industry is calling on talented young event professionals and students to bring their passion, knowledge and skills to the tourism industry, to contribute to the growing sector and prevent a skills shortage in the future. The Hotel Career Expo, on Monday 16th May 2016, will provide the gateway for professionals wanting to know about the opportunities available.
“The hotel industry has much to offer budding event professionals and students, such as diverse career paths with great rewards, internationally renowned training and strong management opportunities,” says Carol Giuseppi, CEO of Tourism Accommodation Australia (TAA).
“Sometimes misunderstood, the hotel industry is much more than food and beverage and housekeeping, with professional careers from marketing right through to engineering playing a key role in its success.”
“We encourage young event professionals and students to attend the Hotel Career Expo and start their journey to a fulfilling career, whilst also making a difference to Australia’s tourism market in the global economy.”
The Federal Government has stated that by 2020, 123,000 workers and 60,000 skilled workers will be needed in the travel and tourism industry, many in hotels, in professional careers.
This is why TAA and the industry have launched the Hotel Career Expo in Sydney, to shine a light on the diverse professional career pathways available in the hotel industry, and attract high quality professionals into the hotel industry to ensure that the first impression every visitor has is the right one.
On Monday 16th May, students, professionals and talent from the events industry, will meet with the leading names in the hotel industry to explore the career pathways available.
The 2016 Hotel Career Expo, Sydney is an industry first, and the only place students, graduates and young professionals seeking a career in hotels can access the most prestigious hotels in one place and for one day only.
Also part of the Expo is the innovative “Hotel Live Experience,” which will provide a money-can’t-buy hands-on experience in some of Sydney’s best hotels for a select number of individuals. These exclusive programs will be for ambitious young professionals and range from three month internships, to five star dinners with heads of department and provide a unique insight into professions at Sydney’s top hotels.
“We look forward to welcoming event professionals and students to the Hotel Career Expo, to showcase the diversity of the industry and hope they rise to the challenge of building a stronger and leading tourism industry for Australia,” concluded Carol Giuseppi.
