Foti International Fireworks have been awarded First Prize at the 2011 Hanabi World Cup Firework Competition in Japan.
Held at the Huis Ten Bosch resort near Fukuoka, the competition involved top teams representing five countries including Australia, USA, Germany, UK and Macau.
The event is regarded as a true firework design competition as all competitors are provided with the same quantity and variety of fireworks to choose from and are given the challenge of designing a unique show to a soundtrack representative of their country.
Foti’s August 13th show was an 18 minute spectacle entitled ‘Welcome to Australia’ and featured a soundtrack of popular and powerful Australia music including the work of David Hirschfelder and John Butler from the soundtrack to the movie Australia.
“We’re extremely honoured to win this competition, firstly because we are representing Australia but especially because of the high quality of the other competitors”, said show designer Robert Foti. “What also makes it special is that it is the public who judge the competition and vote on the winner. We’re please they enjoyed the show as the public’s enjoyment is the reason we do what we do.”
This is the second successive win for Foti in a design competition of this type with Foti’s show at the Grand Prix de Decazeville in France in 2003 awarded both the Jury Gold Medal and People’s Choice Award.
