The Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre (MCEC) is again a major sponsor of AIME as well as the major supporter of the ICCA Forum for Young Professionals (FYP) at AIME during February 2011 in Melbourne.
As part of the MCEC’s support of the ICCA FYP they flew out Rohit Talwar, global futurist and the founder of Fast Future Research, from the United Kingdom.
At the forum Rohit shared his insights into survey results from his Convention 2020 project, a strategic foresight study into meetings of the future being undertaken by his company Fast Future Research.
Joining him on stage was Gen Y representative Lana Howden, Sales Executive – Exhibitions, MCEC. As the winner of 2010’s ICCA FYP scholarship Lana attended the 2010 ICCA Congress in Hyderabad, India.
During the 2010 congress Rohit held a discussion forum on Convention 2020 and was so interested in Lana’s questions on the involvement of Gen Y in his project that he invited her to undertake some youth specific research in Australia.
“By attending the ICCA congress in India I learnt to always ask questions! Because of my questions last year I was given the opportunity to research and present at this year’s youth forum,” Lana said.
“It also gave me the chance to work closely with Rohit over email and it was great to have his support and interest over the last few months.” Lana presented her results alongside Rohit’s at the forum and challenged her fellow Gen Y colleagues to get involved in networking within the business events industry.
