Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) were announced winners in all three categories entered at the esteemed 2014 Victorian Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) Industry Awards, held at Melbourne Zoo last night.
MCEC was awarded Meeting Venue 500 delegates or more, Banqueting and Catering, and In-house AV Services (for the fifth consecutive year).
The venue received further recognition with Catering Services Manager Stephanie Champion announced a finalist of the MEA and Ungerboeck Software International Young Professional Scholarship.
MCEC’s Chief Executive Peter King said the accolades reflect the venue’s commitment and significant contribution to the meetings and events industry.
“MEA Awards give us the opportunity to benchmark our performance against industry leaders and last night we heard there were more submissions and finalists than ever before,” King said.
“I congratulate our dedicated and talented MCEC team who continue to deliver incredible events and create memorable experiences for our customers and visitors from around the world.
“Well done to our Technology and Food and Beverage teams, who really are some of the best in the business, and last night’s achievements are testament to this.”
All three categories entered were assessed across a range of business criteria and the year in review, which looked at financials, activities, challenges and impact on the meetings and events industry as a whole.
MEA’s Meetings and Events Industry Awards are the premier accolade of best industry management practice and outstanding performance in the Australian meetings and events industry.
MCEC are now finalists in the 2014 MEA National Awards where winners will be revealed at the MEA National Conference in Hamilton Island on 26 May 2015.
