Tis the season to be jolly and a time when businesses take time to thank clients for the year that was.
On Friday 6 December, 130 guests enjoyed a spectacular evening under the stars beside the beautiful beach lagoon pool for the IHG Queensland Christmas Party.
Key corporate guests and partners joined IHG Corporate staff to celebrate the year that was and it gave the resort the opportunity to showcase the recently upgraded lagoon pool with state of the art new LED lighting system, as the perfect backdrop for outdoor events.
Gold Winning Olympic Volleyball champion Natalie Cook emceed the evening and as per the emcee list of duties, provided the emergency evacuation instructions …..
“In case of emergency and in particular – fire; run as fast as you can into the Lagoon.”
Resort General Manager Monique Harmer thanked everyone for their continued support of the property which has just celebrated 25 years. She also said that it was exactly 12 months to the day that the resort has been under the InterContinental Brand.
IHG’s Marcus Tait, Director of Commercial – Australasia also thanked everyone for their support saying that 2013 had been a monumental year for IHG.
“InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort was the first resort property for IHG in Australia and it’s been terrific to see the transformation over the past 12 months.
“It’s a credit to Monique and her team and tonight is a stunning showcase of this beautiful property,” he said.
Marcus also announced another addition to the InterContinental Brand stating that InterContinental Sydney Double Bay will be launching in 2014.
Under clear skies, guests sipped on G.H.Mumm Champagne, tried delicious cocktails from the Beenleigh Rum Distillery cocktail bar; tasted beer from Burleigh Brewery beach bar and indulged in delicious canapés prepared by Exec Sous Chef Parashuram Pathak and his team.
With G.H.Mumm champagne flowing freely all night, guest delighted in learning the art of sabrage – the fastest way to take the top off a bottle of champagne …..with a sabre (champagne sword).
A fabulous evening was had by all and the only way to end it was with a spectacular fireworks display.
