Exclusive event access to one of Australia’s most celebrated botanic gardens; laneway tours of hole-in-the-wall cafes serving the best coffee in town; and intimate dinners in little-known but extraordinary boutique wineries are just some of the local experiences available as part of InterContinental Hotels & Resorts’ new meetings program.
Today launched across Australasia, the global InterContinental Meetings provides event planners with inspiring ideas for bringing professional interactions to life, while making their job easier with new web-based tools and services such as virtual tours, interactive floor plans and e-Proposals.
Exclusive to the program is Insider Collection – a selection of local venues, authentic experiences and services unique to each InterContinental hotel, created to motivate and connect delegates with the destination, through every element of their event.
Hinged on the local expertise and knowledge of the people behind each InterContinental hotel, Insider Collection comprises five elements:
Insider Locations: The hotel team holds the key to a side of their city tourists don’t see. Using their local knowledge and connections, they provide access to fascinating spaces, such as behind-the-scenes of Perth Zoo, secluded spots on world-renowned Natadola Beach in Fiji, and Wellington’s hidden laneway chocolatiers.
Insider Speakers: Every InterContinental hotel and resort has lined up a selection of exceptional motivational speakers they can call on to bring events to life – from identities such as Hon. Jeff Kennett and winemaker Chris Archer, to sporting heroes and celebrities such as tennis star Mark Woodford and chef Guy Grossi.
Insider Community: Working with a range of partners, the hotel teams have created experiences which see delegates contributing to the local community while building rapport as a group, such as renovating a local Fijian primary school, discovering endangered wildlife in regenerating forests in Wellington and lending a hand at a Sydney soup kitchen.
Insider Interactions: Tapping into the unique character, heritage or geography of a destination to inspire interaction, each InterContinental hotel and resort offers team-building activities to engage and motivate in an original way, including Sydney Harbour sailing regattas, Teppanyaki cooking classes in Adelaide and croupier training in Perth.
Insider Breaks: Even simple break-outs can be fulfilling experiences. Insider Collection’s range of time-out options are designed to connect delegates with a destination, from wine and cheese tasting with local experts to sampling Aboriginal bush tucker.
Insider Collections are now available in every InterContinental hotel and resort across Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, with showcase events for event planners being held throughout November.
“InterContinental Meetings brings the history, culture, flavours and experiences of the destination to delegates, while making it easier for planners to create events using new online tools and resources established as part of the new program,” said Bruce McKenzie, chief operating officer IHG Australasia.
“While our network of hotels and resorts is global, our knowledge and expertise is local. Our hotel teams can provide planners interesting and inspiring ideas on how they can connect delegates to the destination and make their events more productive and memorable, no matter the size, shape or requirements.”
