Friday night was pretty chill in Melbourne but the local ISES chapter had a very warm welcome for guests at the Melbourne Museum for their annual gala dinner and chapter awards.
Guests entered through a welcoming arch supplied by WOW structures and showcasing a new product line matched by some artistic shadows cast on the building by lighting supplied by Phaseshift Productions.
Once inside (and coats off loaded) we were offered welcome drinks by Gale & Vallance while Trumpet Jazz band played among the fossils.
The dinner was set in the Birrarung room – a space that weaves through indigenous displays. And a very live room due to lots of hard surfaces (floor, ceiling and walls) which made it a challenge for MC Nic Yates to keep attention focussed on proceedings – but as he is a professional, he did.
This year two new awards were added. Supplier of the Year (sponsored by Commonwealth Bank) went to Theme by JAK and a student award for emerging talent went to Bailey O’Connor-Tennant
The much anticipated Michael Milburn Achievement Award went to Allan Spiegel, owner of Show FX and a long time ISES member who has also spent a considerable time on the chapter executive committee.
After a diversion to witness the launch of the Aerosphere, a new product from Lumiere Productions, it was into the VIP Photo Booth or onto the dance floor with DJ Rinaldo
