Report by Trevor Connell
The ISES Sydney end of year party was attended by around 150 guests who gathered in a light drizzle at the Opera House to be transferred across the harbour to a sheltered bay near Taronga Zoo. Spirits were high as we thundered across the harbour but faltered a little when our boat ran out of puff within a hundred metres of our destination.
While the crew worked to get us going again some on the boat were sending a distress signal to the venue to send a waiter across with our first round of drinks.
Once on board some guests took a while to find their sea legs as the venue rolled a little in the wake of the odd passing ferry. Later we were joined in this little bay by a number of the other floating venues (I understand this is one of the most sheltered spots on the harbour).
Sonia Stanojevic ensured we were treated to a delicious variety of nibbles by Food Society and The Island’s Michael Stojkovic ensured the bar supplied plenty of drinks.
We were serenaded by Isaac and then DJ Gina Gammell took us through to the end of a very enjoyable night.
Intrigued by what seemed to be 30 sec fireworks show from over by the SOH and the passing of another massive cruise ship.
Then the water taxi back to the Opera House that was bathed in red for World AIDS day.
