This year marks the cosmetic giant’s 85th anniversary and the first time the company has held a convention in Australia.
Running until February 10, delegates attending the 2015 Spring 123rd POLA Convention have been given the opportunity to experience some of the very best the Gold Coast has to offer for business events, including koala encounters at Dreamworld and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, the Skypoint observation deck, daytrips to Tangalooma, Glow Worm Tours in the World Heritage Listed Rainforest and Byron Bay Tours.
According to Mr Kazuhiko Segaki – General Manager, Sales Organization Service Division POLA INC, Australia was the perfect destination to mark POLA’s 85 years as one of Japan’s leading cosmetics brands with the biggest convention in the company’s history.
“We wanted to make this year’s convention particularly memorable to commemorate our 85th year, so Australia’s Gold Coast with its combination of modern conferencing facilities and exceptional group event experiences was the perfect choice,” he said. “Gold Coast’s temperate climate is a welcome change for our delegates travelling from the Northern hemisphere winter, and also ensures they can all fully enjoy the incredible natural wonders the Gold Coast offers.”
Tourism Australia Managing Director John O’Sullivan extended a warm welcome to the POLA delegates and said the visit was extremely significant for Australia’s growing business events sector, currently worth $13 billion annually.
“Australia has enjoyed a long and important tourism partnership with Japan for both leisure travel and business events and we are extremely pleased to welcome POLA for this significant celebration of 85 years of success in business,” Mr O’Sullivan said.
“This visit really demonstrates Australia’s strength as a destination that international businesses associate with individual achievement and business success and will further assist in growing the economic contribution of our business events sector.”
Gold Coast Tourism Chief Executive Officer Martin Winter welcomed the delegates and said the POLA Cosmetics event was a great win for the Gold Coast and Australia.
“The Gold Coast is proud to have welcomed POLA Cosmetics convention delegates to Australia for the first time, and we are delighted Australia was selected for such an auspicious event coinciding with the company’s 85th anniversary,” he said. “The POLA Cosmetics convention confirms the Gold Coast as an internationally recognised destination for incentive programs of all sizes, and I know all 1,500 delegates enjoyed an Australian experience that they will not soon forget.”
The program will culminate with an elaborate awards ceremony at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, complete with custom-built 40 metre-long stage, honouring POLA Cosmetic’s top sales performers in 2014.Queensland’s floral emblem, the Cooktown Orchid, features in the awards ceremony, ensuring many of those being recognised will take a special reminder of Australia home with them.
Following the awards ceremony delegates will enjoy a black tie Gala dinner, with a specially created menu featuring locally sourced ingredients including Black Angus beef and King Prawns, as well as Australian delicacies such as Tasmanian Salmon.
