After a flurry of Valentines Day proposals, entry to Luna Park’s Wedding Showcase was the most sought-after ticket of the weekend. The iconic harbour-side location, celebrating it’s 80th anniversary in 2015, hosted 200 guests looking to book the Park as their wedding location, giving them an opportunity to immerse themselves in the venue and all it’s offerings prior to their big day.
Three event spaces – the Sunset Room, Ted Hopkins Room and the Palais – were fashioned into wedding wonderlands, providing guests with spectacular visual insights into what their special day could be like. Each space was fully dressed with dinner settings and floral arrangements, along with decorative embellishments like mirrors, crystals, and candles.
Couples were given guided tours through three of the venue’s event spaces by the Luna Park team of wedding experts, who answered questions and provided commentary about the selection of options on display.
Guests were then led into the Crystal Ballroom where exhibitors showing the latest trends in high-end, wedding wares greeted them. A medley of stylists, photographers, florists and entertainment companies were on-hand to discuss their specialised skills and services. Decorative Events, Romeo’s Chair and Divine Events all showcased their design and decorative talents, while other exhibitors displayed photography, entertainment, confectionary and stationary options.
Finally, upcoming confirmed wedding couples were invited to take part in an elegant sit-down menu tasting prepared by internationally trained Executive Chef, Mark Taylor. Taylor and his first-class culinary team prepared a vast selection of tasting options for the couples, showcasing exceptional dishes created using the high-quality produce.
The creative and diverse menu included an entrée of gin-cured salmon accompanied by beetroot puree, crispy feta and green cucumber jelly, while one of the main options was a sage and Parmesan-crusted chicken breast placed on a moist polenta cake, served with a Tuscan-style broad bean salad and drizzled with Hollandaise and red wine jus.
Luna Park Weddings have recorded a 25% increase in wedding bookings over the past twelve months and have also noted a significant shift in wedding sizes.
Toni Byrnes, Luna Park’s Wedding Sales Manager said that, “Here at Luna Park Weddings, we cater for weddings of all sizes because our premium and unique spaces are custom-built for different purposes. Our stunning harbour-side location, coupled with our versatile spaces is incredibly attractive to couples.”
