SYDNEY 2000

The Sydney Olympics were a unique experience for all involved. It was a particularly interesting time for the Australian Event Industry. In this special Olympic section we have gathered stories and photos from many aspects of the events which surrounded the sports carnival.

The ASE coverage is quite unique. As far as we know this is the first time such coverage has been put together and there is currently no other publicly available publication which has this amount of information available on the Event Production aspects of the Games.

We regard this information as a useful resource for the Event Industry and so we will keep this information online and updated for some time.

Send us your comments and stories. In particular we like the stories from the field, from those involved at the grass roots level and we invite you to submit your stories, your experiences, your views and reflections on the events surrounding the XXVIIth Olympiad. If you have a story idea please email the editor with an outline, we will then follow you up. If you have general (or specific) comments please email to us as well.

The Olympics Legacy

One year on from the Olympics ASE asked a couple of the major players to reflect on the past year and to look at where their business are heading.

David Grant shares a few thoughts on his year since the Sydney Olympics
“The biggest impact of the Olympics has really been our continuing work with several of our Olympic sponsors on their domestic events - developing into good long term relationships where they use our services for more projects than would have previously because the Olympics showed just how versatile we can be.”
