Gold for the Melbourne Event Industry

14th March 2006

Throughout the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne this March, Sydney based NOSH Hospitality Personnel will be working in association with Executive Sports & Entertainment to provide guest liaison and concierge services for the Nine Network’s VIP Hospitality Program. Hosted at the Crown Casino and Crown Promenade Hotels, the Nine Network will be entertaining a ‘who’s who’ of Australian celebrities, sporting heroes and international VIPs.

In addition to running the Nine Lounge at Crown Promenade, where guests can meet before heading out to events, conduct meetings or simply relax and unwind after a day at the Games, NOSH will provide meet & greet services at the airport, an array of specialised transport, information, ticketing and accreditation services designed to ensure guests can make the most of their once-in-a-lifetime Games experience.

NOSH Hospitality was chosen as the staffing agency to assist with this VIP event because “…although they are Sydney based, NOSH Hospitality’s experience in premium concierge and guest relations staffing made them the obvious choice for the Nine Network’s special requirements...” said Leon Spellson, Managing Director of Executive Sports & Entertainment who contracted NOSH.

Peter Jones Special Events are looking after the Australia Post hospitality suite at Marriott Melbourne. PJSE are also managing the royal reception for the Queen at the MCG along with receptions for the Australian and Canadian teams.

And the big finale for Melbourne – the day after the closing ceremony a Hero’s Parade through the streets of Melbourne for the Australian athletes, officials and volunteers.  A week later PJSE will be managing a wrap party at the MCG for the Games staff and a wrap party for Jack Moreton Worldwide (producers of the Ceremonies).

But it doesn’t end there; within a couple of weeks following the Comm Games PJSE are producing the Grand Prix Ball again and the AFL season launch dinner.

Management of the M2006 Commonwealth Games Corporate Hospitality Program is under the care and direction of Republic Events Australia. The scope for Republic Events includes room themeing and styling, design and fit-out, entertainment, furnishings and room presentation, operational assistance, audio visual support, on site room and area supervision, hosting and overall hospitality delivery.

The program also encompasses the preparation and design of styling briefs for some of the key hospitality suites as well as production fit-out and supervision. The task is enormous as it covers corporate hospitality across the MCG for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies as well as athletics; Telstra Dome for the Rugby 7’s competition; and Melbourne Park for the Gymnastics plus the Netball and Basketball finals. Republic Events will have in excess of 65 staff and crew working at the various venues during the bump-in and on-site management of the program.
