freshcatering wins prestigious award

28th August 2007

The chefs and team at freshcatering have been awarded top honours at the prestigious NSW Restaurant & Catering Awards of Excellence 2007.

In its first year of entry, freshcatering has been voted the Best Caterer at an Event, after catering to 350 Pacific Life employees from the USA, on an incentive trip in Sydney.  The gala dinner was managed by TourHosts and held in a marquee on the Fleet Steps of Sydney’s Botanic Gardens.  The menu had to be sophisticated and distinctly Australian using local produce and wines.

The annual awards ceremony was held at the AJC Convention Centre at Randwick Racecourse and attended by 900 people.  The awards process brings together NSW’s top restaurant and catering providers to be judged by culinary experts in a variety of categories.  The judging process involved a written submission, followed by an assessment of the fresh kitchens, operations and business practices in the lead up to the event as well as on the function day.

“The gala dinner was a challenging and rewarding event to work on” said executive chef Paul Wrightson. "Our team dished up a salad of lamb, baked ricotta and roasted truss tomatoes to start, followed by barramundi fillet, crushed kipfler potatoes, sauce gribiche as a main.  Each guest was served a selection of canapé-sized desserts on individual platters; wattle seed & chocolate crème brulee, macadamia nut tart, mini pavlovas pepper berry & strawberry compote and mini lamingtons.”

Managing Director, Peter McCloskey, accepted the award on Monday night saying, "freshcatering is very proud of what it delivers in terms of quality food and service.  We have produced more than 1,500 major events including product launches, VIP parties, international incentives, charity fundraising, sporting and media events, so it's great to see our experience and our hard-working teams recognised for their efforts. I congratulate all those involved."
