Michael Fitzgerald, the unassuming Irish chef is the man behind the award. He is one the most highly awarded chefs in Perth. For the past six years he has worked as Group Executive Chef for Ogden International Facilities Corporation, the venue manager for His Majesty’s Theatre, Perth Concert Hall, Playhouse Theatre, Subiaco Arts Centre and Government House Ballroom.
Since 2000 Michael has won over 23 awards, including the Restaurant & Catering Industry’s ‘WA Honour Chef of the Year’ in 2006.
Judges assessed each competitor on three levels, including a cocktail party setting and a three course plated dinner. When asked what were the most difficult criteria while being judged Michael commented, “Allowing the client the freedom of choice whilst maintaining a balance of flavours through each course.”
The venues are members of The Catering Institute (WA Division), Meeting Industry Association of Australia and The Restaurant & Catering Industry Association of WA and are equipped with fully licensed bars. The award is testament to their commitment to providing exceptional quality in products and services.
