The stylish Bayside Lounge at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre has won an award in the Master Builders Association 2007 Excellence in Construction Awards.
Ichor Constructions took top billing in the Awards’ ‘Hospitality Building construction under $10 million’ category, for its work on the Bayside Lounge and its stunning external terrace and water feature. The award also covered significant changes made to the Centre’s Bayside rooms and Bayside Terrace.
The developments are all part of an ongoing refurbishment of the Centre - Australia’s leading meetings venue.
Designed by Cox Richardson Architects, the Bayside Lounge project incorporated complex design elements such as a dramatic staircase, unique curved rooms and a striking water feature, providing a visual link to the venue’s harbourfront setting.
The Master Builders Association Award was given to Ichor Constructions in recognition of its craftsmanship in the completion of the project, as well as its achievement in meeting tight timeframes and ensuring minimal disruption to the Centre and its guests.
Centre Chief Executive Ton van Amerongen congratulated Ichor Construction on the award.
“Ichor Constructions’ expertise and commitment to quality has helped give the Centre a stylish new dimension, with the Bayside Lounge providing a superb link between the building and the Darling Harbour precinct.”
Director of Ichor Constructions, Homer Dapas added: “To be recognised this way by the Master Builders’ Association and our peers is an honour, but what ultimately drives us to achieve excellence in our field is our desire to impress and partner with our clients, and deliver above and beyond their expectations.
“We congratulate everyone involved with this award-winning project for the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre and the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority.”
