Guests were delighted to be ushered onto the turf of the MCG to the cheers of 100,000 people via the PA system.
One delegate from India was so overawed that he fell to his knees and kissed the turf (a cricket lover maybe?) while a certain Sydney event organiser wanted to know why the ground was "hollow". Organiser Peter Jones gently explained that it is "hallowed" - which any sports lover knows.
