Event:

Relaunch of the Canberra Convention Centre

Venue:

National Convention Centre Canberra

The blurb:

The ACT Government has invested $30 million in the upgrade which will provide a power-house venue for the national and international markets, with unrivalled facilities, size and scope in the seat of power, Canberra.

The new National Convention Centre will provide conference delegates with a unique experience of Canberra, with a “Sense of Canberra” as a prime focus.

Improvements to technology, security and catering will deliver unparalleled function standards and the refurbishment will allow a more flexible and accessible floor plan to better cater for conferences of more than 600 delegates. This has been facilitated by a new moveable drapes system leading to the Royal Theatre which will enable more flexibility in the use of the space.

The buzz:

Canberra Convention Bureau hosted a famil for PCOs and buyers to coincide with the opening. These delegates joined local and interstate conference and event organizers, business leaders and politicians for an inspection of the new facilities.

Dale Burridge and Danielle Everett tested the acoustics of the Royal Theatre with opera arias and show tunes. While the following night the Royal Theatre played host to a Queen tribute band.
