The Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau has hailed AIME 2008 as a great success for the harbour city, with the Bureau’s record-size stand drawing a huge number of buyers.
SCVB General Manager Marketing Lyn Lewis-Smith said the SCVB had been impressed with the high number of quality buyers at this year’s event.
“There’s a lot of buzz happening in Sydney now, with the announcement of new plans to expand our convention and exhibition facilities and more resources being dedicated to winning events,” Ms Lewis-Smith said.
“That energy was really evident at the show, with a lot of buyer interest in all the exhibitors on our stand.”
She said the SCVB’s cocktail party featuring Australian singer Deni Hines had also been a great hit, attracting more than 200 buyers.
“We had fabulous feedback on our party. Deni had so much energy and created a really upbeat mood, reinforcing our message that Sydney is an exciting place to hold an event.”
Sydney doubled the size of its stand at AIME this year, bringing together a record 25 exhibitors from Sydney and its surrounds to showcase the most exciting event options available in New South Wales.
“It was a very united effort which drove home the message that Sydney is filled with event options,” Ms Lewis-Smith said.
The Bureau also used AIME 2008 to launch its new-look Events Planners Guide for 2008, backed by an improved online facility, and a brand new Sydney Incentive Planner, available in English and Simplified Chinese.
