The Brisbane Convention Bureau has taken out the top title in Queensland’s business events industry winning the best Metropolitan Convention Bureau/Tourism Organisation category at the Meetings and Events Australia Industry Awards (Queensland).
The Award win the third of its kind for the Bureau recognises the Bureau’s commitment to excellence and the outstanding results achieved during the 2007-08 period.
Brisbane Marketing Director Business Events, Ms Annabel Sullivan said she was delighted with the Award win which came off the back of one of the Bureau’s most successful years to date.
“During 2007-08 the Bureau won 37 bids for future meetings and conferences that will deliver more than 27,000 business visitors and an economic benefit of more than $58 million to Brisbane,” said Ms Sullivan.
“It was also a year for new challenges that saw us step into the international arena for the first time with print advertisements, an electronic direct-mail campaign, a new Make Brisbane Yours brochure and DVD and a presence at IMEX.
“On the domestic front, we increased the Team Brisbane presence at AIME, expanded our interstate roadshow initiative and strengthened our focus on familiarisations to offer clients greater availability and a broader range of experiences.”
Brisbane Marketing Chief Executive Officer, Mr John Aitken praised the Convention Bureau team for their dedication to Brisbane and ongoing commitment to delivering clients the highest standards of service.
“Brisbane is an emerging global city and as the city’s official marketing authority we strive to be leaders in the field,” said Mr Aitken
“We’re innovators and industry leaders and this Award win stands testament to that fact.”
The Brisbane Convention Bureau will now go on to contest the title of Australia’s best Metropolitan Convention Bureau/Tourism Organisation at the National Awards to be held in Adelaide in April.
