SA business operators working smarter and embracing new opportunities
The Adelaide Convention Tourism Authority (ACTA) has announced details of their new 09/10 Membership Prospectus. As the peak body for business events in South Australia, ACTA pro-actively markets and promotes the state both nationally and internationally to convention, meeting, exhibition and incentive travel buyers to attract business events and incentive travel to our state.
A non-profit organisation relying on the support of State Government, Adelaide City Council and membership subscriptions*, ACTA has researched the needs of local businesses with respect to them being able to secure a share of the lucrative business event and incentive travel dollar (worth around $1billion annually to SA). ACTA has designed a series of programmes and initiatives to further enhance its membership package to assist local businesses in realising these goals.
“The 2009/10 membership plan contains a number of new initiatives and marketing programmes aimed at offering South Australian businesses the opportunity to tap directly into the business events and incentive travel market” said Damien Kitto, CEO, ACTA. “It’s interesting to observe the changes in the way the membership is utilized in these somewhat tougher economic times, we’re fielding more enquiries and finding that our existing members are actually working smarter, they are ‘using’ their membership more than ever and taking full advantage of the opportunities we are able to offer them perhaps even more so than when business was easier to come by.” Mr Kitto said
Below are details of the host of new initiatives designed to give SA businesses who are ACTA members a boost and put them in contact with local, interstate and international business event and incentive travel buyers.
Conventions
Adelaide
programme - designed to increase
Adelaide
and
South Australia
’s ability to attract major national and international conventions via a statewide cooperative approach from key industry contributors and beneficiaries. Essentially this an ‘ambassador’ programme, through which ACTA has been able to attract top level and high profile industry leaders to support and assist the development of leads and bid submissions to win conferences for the benefit and to showcase their sector to their national and international contemporaries and of course for the benefit of the State
Incentives
Adelaide
campaign - an integrated strategy developed in partnership with the South Australian Tourism Commission, designed for the incentive travel market.
South Australia
is rich in unique incentive experiences particularly in its regional areas. ACTA and SATC continue to identify these in order to prepare and present sample itineraries to international, and interstate buyers of this type of travel package (whilst keeping cultural sensibilities in mind)
Opportunity to be a member of Team Adelaide - rather than individuals pitching and working solo toward securing major events for the state as has been the norm in the past, Team Adelaide has been developed to present the opportunity for South Australian organisations and businesses to unite and combine their resources with ACTA’s contacts and expertise for the common goal of boosting the city’s business events appeal.
Each category of ACTA membership features an extensive range of member benefits and all represent excellent value for money. In addition to the above, key benefits include
- Access to the ACTA Marketing Directory (a ‘bible’ listing all forthcoming events and the contact details for each),
- Business Referrals (ACTA is constantly contacted by organisations and businesses seeking to stage events in SA, they freely provide the details of its members who may suit the event)
- Destination SA (the premiere annual exhibition showcasing South Australia’s facilities and businesses to interstate and international event organizers and media happens late July)
- the Membership Services Directory (list of members)
- Regular member networking events
- Secure member-only access to the new ACTA website
- Various co-operative marketing activities
ACTA membership is available in several levels ranging from $550 - $4,400 (plus GST)
*The ACTA member partners list comprises businesses, associations or organisations of any size such as hotels, caterers, meeting or conference venues, audio visual suppliers, event companies and meeting managers , entertainers and the like who may benefit directly from business and/or incentive travel or events held in South Australia.
