2010 Team Australia Business Events Educational – Destination Beijing

3 December 2009

Tourism Australia has today announced that the annual Team Australia Business Events Educational (TABEE) will take place at The Westin Beijing Chaoyang in Beijing , China , from 14 – 17 March 2010.

“Since its inception, TABEE has provided a platform for establishing valuable partnerships with buyers from across Asia,” said Johnny Nee, Tourism Australia ’s Regional General Manager, North Asia .

“This has helped to build Australia ’s profile as a destination for incentives and corporate meetings and has also generated significant new business.”

“As the global economy is expected to continue to improve and the Shanghai World Expo 2010 opens on 1 May, 2010, TABEE 2010 is extremely well timed.”

“The Australian business events industry will be able to gain market insights into future business opportunities in Asia as well as opportunities to be involved in the World Expo,” Johnny Nee said.

TABEE is Tourism Australia ’s largest trade event for the Asian business events sector and aims to expand Australia ’s reach into the lucrative Asian corporate meetings and incentives market.

Tourism Australia ’s Head of Business Events Australia, Joyce DiMascio said the three day event provides a platform for buyers and sellers to meet face-to-face in a structured business environment.

“Through TABEE we will once again extend a warm Australian invitation to buyers in 11 key Asian markets – showcasing Australia ’s destinations and product while increasing international buyer knowledge of Australia as a sustainable business events destination,” Ms DiMascio said.

Around 50 Australian sellers will meet with around 59 travel agents, incentive and meeting planners, 57 corporate end users and 17 media. All buyers are qualified by Business Events Australia’s in-market representatives and must have potential business for Australia .

“TABEE 2009 confirmed that there is solid business potential in Asia for Australia ’s business events industry,” Ms DiMascio said.

“Over the two days of one-on-one business meetings, sellers reported 30 initial enquiries plus the issue of 26 quotes and 19 pieces of confirmed business.”

TABEE 2010 will continue to demonstrate Australia’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with responsible choices throughout the planning process and adherence to the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle across all facets of the event.

“The impressive CSR benchmark set at TABEE 2009 indicates Australia ’s commitment to the delivery of sustainable business events,” Ms DiMascio said.”

“With the assistance of an external auditor, the carbon and social impact of TABEE 2010 will be measured to ensure we maintain and build on these standards.”

TABEE 2010 will include three full days of activities and events designed to motivate and inspire buyers to make Australia a priority for their clients. The day one business forum program will provide market updates on various regions and include guest speaker presentations.

Day two and three will facilitate continuous 12 minute buyer and seller meetings – allowing large and small operators to meet a cross-section of potential clients. With various social functions including a gala dinner, welcome and farewell functions and networking lunches, buyers and sellers will have the opportunity to build solid business relationships.
