Marriott has appointed a new Director of Sales and Marketing, Queensland Cluster, Amanda Elder who will oversee two of the largest hotels in its Australian portfolio – the Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa and Brisbane Marriott Hotel.
Mrs Elder brings to the Marriott 24 years of leadership experience at Starwood Hotels and Resorts in Australia, Asia and Europe, most recently occupying the position of Vice President Sales Europe, Africa and Middle East while she was based in Brussels.
Mrs Elder began her career on the Gold Coast with Starwood and held a number of senior roles including Regional Director of Sales & Marketing Australia Pacific and Regional Director of Marketing South East Asia before moving on to become General Manager of the St. Regis Hotel, Shanghai.
Now returning to the Gold Coast for her new position, Mrs Elder said she is thrilled to be back in Queensland and is looking forward to her new role at Marriott.
“I have always called the Gold Coast home so it’s fantastic to be back here with my family ” she said.
“The sales and marketing teams at both properties are excellent and I’m very much looking forward to working closely with them to develop and execute strategies that will continue to see the success of Marriott in Queensland.”
Mrs Elder will be responsible for achieving revenue goals, guest and associate satisfaction and the financial performance of the sales and marketing departments at both the Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa and Brisbane Marriott Hotel.
She will also manage relationships with key stakeholders, corporate guests and hotel partners.
Multi-Property Vice President, Australia and General Manager of Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa, Neeraj Chadha said Mrs Elder’s wealth of experience and infectious enthusiasm will be a welcome addition to the team.

Mr Chadha said the role of Director of Sales and Marketing, Queensland Cluster was a newly created position that will eventually evolve into a pan-Australia sales and marketing role.
