On Friday 6 June co-founder of the string field theory and one of the world’s renowned theoretical physicists, professor and author Dr Michio Kaku will grace the Plenary stage at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) to give Melburnians a fresh new perspective on the physical world.
Dr Kaku’s most recent book ‘The Future of the Mind’ takes complicated scientific theories and turns them into readable tales to enlighten the public about what our lives will be like in the future.
Sharing his passion to communicate science to the wider public, MCEC teamed up with Think Inc to bring Dr Kaku to Melbourne and further enhance the city’s scientific expertise by engaging an audience in rational thought and smart discussion.
MCEC’s Club Melbourne Ambassador Program, with support and collaboration from the Melbourne Convention Bureau and Victorian State Government, is also committed to raising the city’s scientific profile by bringing international conferences and thought leadership to Melbourne.
Professor Geoffrey Taylor is one such Ambassador, involved in securing the ‘International Conference on High Energy Physics’ to Melbourne back in 2012, said he was pleased one of the world’s brilliant science thinkers is heading to Australian shores.
“As an Ambassador my role is to look for opportunities and help secure international events for Melbourne, especially those within the scientific field, and create new opportunities for both research and business.
“This opportunity with Dr Kaku is exciting as it gives all Melbournians, regardless of their profession, the chance to gather at MCEC and grow their own understanding of some complicated theories, all explained in relevant terms.”
Theories Dr Kaku will explore include the exponential expansion of the universe and its assumed eventual death.
“The answer to survival lies in science, through physics. I believe we will discover the structure of the universe and develop technologies that will allow us to bend time and space, with the possibility to travel between universes and through times,” Dr Kaku stated.
