MCEC’s Samantha Fowler was one of only seven Australians in the meetings industry to be awarded the 2010 MEA and Ungerboeck Systems International Young Professional Scholarship at the state awards, held at The Sebel Albert Park on Thursday 10 March.
Samantha accepted the scholarship at the 2010 Victoria Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) Awards and as the Victorian winner will attend MEA’s 24th annual Meetings & Events Conference in Brisbane from April 17-19.
After joining MCEC in March 2010 as reservations coordinator -sales, Samantha has demonstrated her commitment to her role at MCEC and keen interest in the meetings industry, which stood out among MEA panelists.
Samantha said: “I am very excited to have won this award and the opportunity to gain a further insight into the challenges and issues facing the industry, as well as networking with professionals from across Australia.
“Winning this scholarship is a great personal and career achievement and has given me the confidence to continue pursuing my career goals within the meeting and events industry,” she said.
MCEC’s chief executive Leigh Harry said: “I congratulate Samantha on winning this scholarship which has recognised her dedication and commitment to meetings and events here at MCEC, and also her enthusiasm to learn more about our industry.”
