Meetings & Events Australia has announced Hamilton Island as the destination for the 2015 Annual National Conference.
Breaking with tradition, the announcement was made via webinar today with CEO, Linda Gaunt, and MEA Chair, Simon Baggs.
It is the second time the event has been held at Hamilton Island, which hosted the conference in 2002.
Simon Baggs started by apologising for the delay in the announcement and said they received many “extremely solid and generous bids for 2015, all them extremely thought out and professional.”
He then teased listeners with descriptions of beaches and tropical breezes before announcing the venue as Hamilton Island.
In a statement sent to Linda Gaunt, Hamilton Island Business Events Manager, Julie Ford said they were thrilled to be awarded the event.
“We are looking forward to showcasing our Island to the industry as so much has changed since the last time you were here in 2002. For the business sessions we are looking forward to showcasing our extensive conference facilities, including the conference centre, the yacht club and the newly refurbished beachside endeavour room.
“Once the business sessions are done there will be some exciting outdoor tropical venues to do what we do best, network. From poolside to beaches we’re working with the MEA team to create great events under the stars,” the statement said.
The Ultra Early-Bird ticket registrations for $995 are now open to the first 50 people to register. Registrations can be booked here.
As with previous years MEA2015 will be a hive of business events knowledge and the tropical location is sure to be a draw card.
The destination for MEA2016 will be announced in a few weeks’ time.
