Meetings & Events Australia’s Board of Directors is calling on young events professionals to attend their Board meetings.
In a new initiative professionals under 30, who work for a MEA member, are asked to come along as an “invited guest”. The program aims to allow young events employees to put their own views and ideas to the Board Table, as well as gaining some invaluable experience.
MEA has always been active in promoting young professionals through its Young MEA (YMEA) program and various scholarships and this new program demonstrates MEA’s dedication to expanding the experiences offered to young people in the events industry.
MEA CEO, Linda Gaunt, stated that she is delighted that the Board have taken this decision as it will provide insights into the younger demographic of the association in regard to their membership requirements
Linda Gaunt said, “We’ve always valued the ideas of young professionals and feel this could really help bring those ideas into fruition.
“Our YMEA program is widely successful in helping young event’s professionals establish themselves in the industry, now we want to give them a chance to learn from the industry hierarchy.”
MEA’s Board of Directors meet approximately every 6 weeks in North Sydney. Due to the location MEA has offered to cover the travel expenses for those willing to take up the invitation.
The new initiative was inspired by the results from MEA’s national membership survey.
To apply, applicants are asked to email what they would bring to the Board meeting along with a CV to MEA CEO
