Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) is launching its 2018 Leaders Series of events with an in-depth look at the management of accommodation bookings for events on Friday 6 July 2018 at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre (MCEC).
MEA has recently undertaken research of professional conference organisers and event agencies on current trends and accommodation booking practices, the findings of which will be presented at the lunch. This will also include an overview of what hotels are now focusing on in the event and business event market sector.
A panel of speakers representing the event operators and hotels and event booking agencies have been invited to discuss the state of play, threats and opportunities and will encourage conversation to explore how best to collaborate to explore better ways to conduct business.
This is the first time that an opportunity for open discussion on event accommodation has been presented and MEA encourages all event agencies, professional conference organisers, hotels to be a part of this important dialogue.
The panel of speakers includes Anne Gill, Chair of the Accor MICE Advisory Board, Alexander Gorman, Director of National Sales – Australasia at IHG Hotels, Tamara Kavalec, Chief Executive Officer of Arinex, Greg Moore, Chair of Tourism Accommodation Australia (TAA) (Vic) and General Manager of Crown Promenade Hotel, Tammy Olmstead, Global Head of Property Partnerships at HotelsCombined, and Kate Smith, Managing Director of Waldron Smith.
The lunch will be followed by a “first-look” tour of the new meetings and events space at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.
