Melbourne Private Tours (MPT) has expanded its offering with a new division created – MPT Worldwide Journeys – Director Suze Healy announced today.
The boutique operator has introduced exclusive tours to South Africa and Spain targeting discerning Australian travellers and incentive groups.
Ms Healy said MPT Worldwide Journeys was particularly excited about its new Spanish Gastronomic Adventure, which she would accompany, with the first departure from Madrid on 22 September 2011.
“This exclusive culinary experience will feature cooking classes with famous chefs, guided tours through key gourmet regions such as the Basque Country, and a behind-the-scenes look at a family bodega (winery) housing over 50,000 bottles,” said Ms Healy.
“At MPT, we specialise in experiences that can’t be found elsewhere and our comprehensive knowledge of Spain’s culinary scene will provide our guests with an unforgettable escape.
“The itinerary alone is enough to make your mouth water; from an insider’s tapas tour of Madrid and an exclusive cooking class at the Spanish Gastronomic Society in Bilbao, to a unique insight into the world of Jamon Iberico and a behind-the-scenes look at Barcelona through a chef’s eyes.
“This gastronomic adventure is aimed at travellers who adore culture, good food and wine, but also includes sightseeing in the historic cities of Toledo and Sevilla, and 12 nights of luxury, boutique accommodation.”
Melbourne-based MoVida chef and owner Frank Camorra, who was born in Barcelona, says the tour will “immerse you completely in Spain”.
“We’ve spent memorable times together in Spain with local Melbourne foodie Suze Healy and I know she has a passion and thirst for all things Spanish,” says Frank.
“This itinerary has been lovingly created over numerous food and wine research trips and Suze has been able to gain unrivalled access not only to prominent Spanish food and wine identities, but also to those smaller producers who will let you into their world.”
As an incentive for early birds paying a partial deposit of $300 by 30 June 2011, MPT Worldwide Journeys will host an invitation-only cocktail party at MoVida. Guests will be able to discuss Spanish cuisine with the renowned Frank Camorra himself, while sampling the venue’s acclaimed wine and tapas offering.
MPT Worldwide Journeys is a division of Melbourne Private Tours and is partnered with premium travel agency Pan Australian Travel.
The Spanish Gastronomic Adventure is priced from $11,000 per person twin-share; international flights are not included; conditions apply.
