The National Convention Centre Canberra (NCCC) has announced the appointment of Anthony Smith as new Marketing Manager, replacing Amanda Holling who is moving to America.
In his new position, Anthony will be responsible for growing the National Convention Centre Canberra brand on both a national and international level, as well as drive delegate and event planner experiences.
In addition to the NCCC, Anthony will also be responsible for the marketing for Crowne Plaza Newcastle and Parliament House Catering.
He has been with InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) for six years, working in a variety of roles including Project Marketing Manager Crowne Plaza Darling Harbour and Project Marketing Manager ACT where he was responsible for establishing a strong marketing culture, developing sound SOPs and creating marketing strategies and initiatives for the properties.
He also held the position of Marketing Manager – InterContinental Hotels Group NSW & ACT, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience of the IHG (InterContinental Hotel Group) brand to the new role.
Commenting on his appointment, Anthony said, “I’m delighted to be expanding my role within the IHG portfolio and am looking forward to continuing with the fantastic work already underway at the NCCC. 2011 is going to be an exciting year for us with an increased focus on our brand attributes, event planner touch points and many exciting initiatives being planned for our delegates over the next 12 months.”
Cindy Young, manager of the National Convention Centre Canberra, commented, “We are all looking forward to welcoming Anthony to the team here in Canberra. His experience over the last few years with the marketing for other IHG properties provides us not only with an expert in the world of marketing, but also with a sense of continuity which is so important as he knows the brand intimately.”
Anthony will be based at Crowne Plaza Terrigal, travelling to Canberra for one week each month, and hot-desking in Sydney once a fortnight.
