IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) has appointed Irene Chia as the new business development director MICE NSW & ACT.
In her new role, Irene will drive the development and execution of strategic MICE sales, marketing and revenue initiatives across IHG properties in NSW and ACT, strengthening product offerings across the hotels and fostering new and existing partnerships with key industry players.
Irene joined IHG from Starwood Hotels and Resorts Group in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where she most recently held the position of director of sales and marketing for the Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel.
Her extensive experience in the hospitality industry across Australia and Malaysia includes senior roles at Sheraton Subang Hotel and Towers Kuala Lumpur, The Westin Kuala Lumpur, Sebel Resort & Spa Hawkesbury and Sebel Kirketon Park Hunter Valley, and Sir Stamford Circular Quay and Stamford Double Bay.
Irene is multi-lingual, speaking Cantonese, English and Bahasa Malaysia. She is a keen traveller and enjoys mountain climbing. In 2009, she climbed Mount Kinabalu, the highest peak in South East Asia.
