Janine Pinto has been promoted to the role of business development director meetings and events at InterContinental Sydney, overseeing the hotel’s corporate offerings.
Prior to her promotion, Janine was the driving force behind InterContinental Sydney’s meetings and events business, successfully leading the sales conversion team and securing a range of major events for the hotel.
Since joining the hotel in 1999 as a member of the banquet operations team, Janine has worked across several departments in a range of roles to deliver memorable experiences and special events.
During the past 12 years, Janine has played a crucial role in securing, hosting and participating in many major Sydney events at the hotel, including the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and the Millennium 2000 New Year’s Eve celebrations. Most recently, Janine lead the hotel’s hosting of the Harpo Productions crew and the Oprah Winfrey Show,’s ‘Ultimate Australian Adventure’, during which the crew, audience and show host Oprah herself based themselves at the hotel for a week in December 2010.
In her new role as business development director meetings and events, Janine will continue to apply her strong operational background to generate corporate events and incentives business for the hotel.
Janine’s new appointment comes in the same year as the unveiling of several new meetings offerings and facilities within InterContinental Sydney, including the hotel’s new Cafe Opera restaurant and private dining rooms, updated business centre, newly renovated live broadcast facilities and renovated Harbour Room event space on the 31st floor overlooking the harbour and Botanic Gardens.
