Conference and incentive organisers and decision-makers are being urged to learn about New Zealand’s business tourism sector first-hand with a visit to Christchurch in June for MEETINGS 2011.
MEETINGS 2011 is New Zealand’s premier business tourism expo and showcases a diverse range of New Zealand’s key destinations, venues, products and services for conferences, meetings, exhibitions, events and incentive travel programmes.
It is being held at Christchurch’s CBS Canterbury Arena on June 22 and 23 and provides the perfect opportunity for anyone planning a business tourism event to see for themselves what New Zealand has to offer.
“It’s a great chance for decision-makers to experience Kiwi hospitality for themselves and to learn about the diverse products and services our industry offers,’’ says Conventions and Incentives New Zealand chief executive Alan Trotter.
“We’ve got a great mix of excellent meeting facilities including convention centres, lodges and hotels, dedicated professional staff, high quality food and wines and stunning scenery. And this year we also have the Rugby World Cup.
“There are still great opportunities available for companies and organisations to schedule meetings and events on either side of the main weekend fixtures of Rugby World Cup 2011, so they can enjoy being part of one of the world’s biggest sporting events.’’
Mr Trotter says it is fitting Christchurch is hosting MEETINGS this year as it is regarded as a leader in business tourism in New Zealand and always puts on a fantastic show for its visitors.
“It has been three years since MEETINGS was last held in Christchurch and we’re thrilled to be back there this year. As we all know Christchurch has had more than its fair share of challenges in recent months but the city has proven its resilience and is really looking forward to welcoming representatives from the corporate and business tourism sectors to the region for MEETINGS,” Mr Trotter says.
In all 17 regions, from Northland through to Invercargill, will be represented at MEETINGS, making it a convenient one-stop sales shop for New Zealand’s business tourism sector.
This year, thank to the generous support of principal sponsor, Air New Zealand, and the expo’s other major sponsors, complimentary air travel and accommodation will be available to Australians and New Zealanders wanting to attend MEETINGS if they apply for the Hosted Buyer programme.
This programme covers both days of MEETINGS and gives attendees the opportunity to meet face-to-face with exhibitors of their choice as well as the chance to network with other buyers and exhibitors at social events. Those interested in applying can find out more at www.meetings.co.nz.
“New Zealand offers so much as a conference and incentive destination and with competitive airfares and the New Zealand currency approximately 30 per cent below the Australian dollar there’s never been a better time for Australians to conduct business over here,” says Mr Trotter.
