Novotel Canberra has extended its environmental credentials with the installation of two public charge station by Better Place, which will allow guests driving electric cars to recharge their vehicles free of charge during their stay.
“The new charge spots at the Novotel are great news for electric cars drivers. The Novotel is a central, high-profile location, and there’s nothing simpler or more convenient than topping up your battery while your car is parked and you’re enjoying everything Canberra has to offer,” said Ben Keneally, Head of Marketing and Strategy for Better Place.
“Plugging into the Better Place public network is one of the many benefits electric car drivers can enjoy. The convenience it offers is second to none – and thanks to our partnership with ActewAGL, Better Place is charging your car with 100% renewable electricity every time,” Mr Keneally said.
Neil Paterson, General Manager of the Novotel Canberra said installing charge spots for electric cars was a key part of the Novotel’s commitment to customer service and sustainability.
“We’re proud to be one of the first hotels in Canberra to offer this leading-edge service for guests and visitors. Electric cars are clearly a part of the driving future, so it was important to us that we put the infrastructure in place to make the Novotel a destination address for electric car drivers,” Mr Paterson said.
“We’re delighted to be a key landmark on the Better Place network. Here in Canberra the Novotel is a certified EarthCheck hotel so it just made sense to reinforce our commitment to sustainability by offering this fantastic new service,” Mr Paterson said.
The newly installed charge spots are located in the underground Novotel car park, and can support up to four electric cars at once. The installation is part of the public network of charge spots Better Place is deploying in the ACT region.
The charge spots deliver between 20–25km of range per hour of charging. They are compatible with Mitsubishi i-MiEVs, currently available, as well as the Nissan Leaf, Renault Fluence ZE and Holden Volt cars that will be released in Australia later this year.
Better Place now has a total of 14 charge spots installed in and around Canberra; with 94 charge spots installed nationally.
